A very elegant French mid 19th century Louis XVI st. patinated and giltwood fireplace mantel. The mantel displays a beautiful and most unique faux hand painted central brick design with a wonderfully executed faux limestone finish and a fine mottled giltwood border at the firebox. At each side, each elegant support displays a most decorative recessed panel with richly carved tied floral garlands set on an exceptional patinated blue background. Above each leg are elegant flutes with carved fitted chandelles which center the frieze. The frieze displays striking and intricately detailed Rinceaux shaped scrolled floral designs and acanthus leaves also set on a lovely patinated blue background.
